Top Music Albums of 2022

We have enjoyed quite a few records in 2022. In this article, we are going to hit you with our favorite albums of the year.

1. Gospel - The Loser

This post-hardcore and screamo band is back. This is their first full-length LP in almost 20 years, and it's an amazing comeback.

Not only do these elements of punk and post-hardcore and prog rock still come together really well, but the vocal dynamics and the synthesizers really add a new flavor to the band that makes this record fantastic.

It's just amazing to see this band that was at one time a dead-end in the post-hardcore field coming back with a great LP.

2. Billy Woods - Aethiopes

Next from here, we have Billy Woods with Aethiopes. Billy is digging very well into this abstract hip-hop sound on this LP making it work for himself fantastically. Great topics, great lyrical focus, great wordplay. Billy is impressive, and creative and just continues to show why he is one of the best artists in the underground today with this record.

3. Otoboke Beaver - Super Champon

Following this, we have Otoboke Beaver with Super Champon one of the best punk records of the year from one of the best bands out of Japan currently. Their ferocity riffs and group vocal routines pretty much go unmatched on this project. The performances are tight, and the lyrics dealing with societal sexism hit hard.

4. Denzel Curry - Melt My Eyez See Your Future

Next, shout out to Denzel Curry's Melt My Eyez See Your Future. A really thoughtful, contemplative, and almost psychedelic record from Denzel where he is exploring his inner thoughts, struggles, demons, vices, problems, and mental limitations that he needed to transcend in order to become the man that he is now.

Denzel Curry delivers another solid, impressive, creative record as he typically does. He's shown a new side of himself in that process and it sounds great.

5. Soul Glo – Diaspora Problems

We have not heard a punk record sound this fast and intense in a long time. Not only that, but the riffs are amazing, the mix is fantastic, the lyrics are dense and when diving into them they come across a very thoughtful, moving, and deep album. It has a lot more to say than most punk records that are this loud and this fast.

If you enjoy hardcore in any form or fashion but you have not heard this record yet, you do owe it to yourself and listen to this thing. To get the best sound, use Firefly Vintage. Made by Jabees, the earbuds deliver high-resolution music to your ears without requiring wires.
